Cetti, through her foundation, the Carlo and Jan Cetti Family Foundation, pledged $25,000 last month toward a classroom in Dean Rodger’s name in the future Betty and Bob Beyster Institute for Nursing Research, Advanced Practice, and Simulation. The total cost of the classroom is $50,000. Cetti hopes alumni will contribute the remaining $25,000 to honor Dean Rodgers.

“It was truly amazing to see how she built the Hahn School of Nursing,” Cetti said. “And it is amazing to see the impact its graduates have on the quality of patient care in the communities they serve.”

Cetti met Dean Rodgers while the two women served together on a USD leadership board.

“I was inspired by her unwavering vision and her tireless efforts that led the Hahn School of Nursing to achieve both local and national recognition for excellence and innovation in advanced degree programs for nurses,” Cetti said.

Dr. Rodgers was Dean of the University of San Diego Hahn School of Nursing and Health Science from 1987 until she retired in 2002. Dr. Rodgers passed away in February of 2013 after a short illness.

Jan Cetti served as CEO of San Diego Hospice 14 years before retiring in 2010.  She also served as Senior Vice President of Sharp Healthcare.  Her husband, Carlo, is a former executive of Jack in the Box and now serves on the Board of the YMCA. The Cettis are generous philanthropists to many organizations in San Diego, including the Hahn School of Nursing and health Science.
