San Diego NROTC helps “Man the Rails” during Fleet Week on USS THATCH

Members of the San Diego Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps took the ride of a lifetime Saturday.  Approximately 50 Midshipmen helped the crew “man the rails” as the USS THATCH cruised through San Diego Bay while taking part in the Annual Fleet Week celebration in San Diego on Saturday, September 28th.  “It was an incredible experience,” said Midshipmen Derek Biehle, a Business Administration major at the University of San Diego.  “This experience reminded me of why I am proud to serve my country.”  The Battalion Commanding Officer, Midshipman Michael Crawford, noted, “Manning the rails and standing tall for all of San Diego is what everyone remembers after a long deployment, and we are fortunate that our members were able to take part in this memorable event.”
