March-On at SDSU Homecoming Game

SDSU March-on detail

On 14 November 2015, over 120 Marines, Officer Candidates, and Midshipmen attached to the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps (NROTC) San Diego, proudly marched onto the field at Qualcomm Stadium during the opening ceremonies of the San Diego State University (SDSU) Homecoming Football game against the Wyoming Cowboys.  The battalion entered the stadium as the SDSU marching band played “Anchors Away” and the “Marines’ Hymn.”  Thunderous applause could be heard as the battalion’s precise drill movements and seamless cohesion wowed the packed stadium.

NROTC San Diego joined the Army and Air Force ROTC units to honor the many servicemen and veterans in attendance.  Members of the battalion presented arms as the National Anthem brought the boisterous stadium to a respectful silence to honor this great nation and all those who have served it.

The March-On is an annual tradition that showcases the Battalion’s discipline in formation.  This is the first time that the new 4/C Midshipmen are able to showcase their abilities after learning basic drill movements at their drill team practices.  The event also has a powerful way of connecting NROTC San Diego to the local community.  The battalion’s high degree of visibility at this event makes the public aware of their service, in addition to making the Marines, Officer Candidates, and Midshipmen aware of the community they serve.
