To obtain a USD Banner ID Number, complete the Confidential Employee Information Form which is sent in July to full-time faculty. If you have not received this form, contact Peggy Agerton at email@example.com or at 619-260-4553. Return the Confidential Employee Information Form to Karen Briggs, HR Employment & Training Director, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Upon receipt of the form, new employee information will be entered into the Oracle HR system, an ID number will be generated, and Human Resources will notify you of your Banner ID number.
Upon receipt of your Banner ID number, go to https://my.sandiego.edu/. Click on Open an Account. Your MySanDiego account will serve as your e-mail account, your CE6 (WebCT/Blackboard) username, your personal web space, and it will give you access to the MySanDiego portal and your course rosters.
Complete all new hire forms (I-9 and W4) in Human Resources located in Maher Hall, Room 101. Complete the Direct Deposit form and take it to Payroll located in Hughes Center, Room 203. Any new Direct Deposit account or changes to an account number requires at least ONE pay period before going into effect. The first pay date after turning in a Direct Deposit Form, you will receive a live check which will need to be picked up at the Cashier’s window in Hughes Center and deposited at your bank. Faculty are paid monthly on the 26th of the month, or the last working day before if the 26th falls on a weekend or holiday.
Campus Card Services, located in the University Center 127, issues the Torero Card which serves as your official ID card for campus services and purchases. It may also become your access key to specialized labs and classrooms. Before you obtain a Torero Card you must have established a USD ID number and have completed all HR hiring forms. After at least 24 hours of completing the HR hiring forms, go to Campus Card Services to obtain your Torero Card. Photo identification is needed and your photo will be taken for the card. Torero Cards can be used for CampusCash, Library card, Bookstore purchases, athletic events, fitness centers, U.S. Bank ATM/debit card.
CampusCash is a prepaid declining balance account managed through your Torero Card. To activate your account make a deposit in any amount and you can use your Torero Card everywhere CampusCash is accepted. Employees receive a 10% discount off food and beverage purchases at USD dining locations when paid with CampusCash.
U.S. Bank and USD entered into a partnership. The Torero Card can serve as a banking card that can be used as an ATM card on campus and a debit/ATM card off campus. Visit the U.S. Bank branch in the University Center 125 for details to open a free U.S. Bank checking account. Three U.S. Bank ATMs are located on campus: University Center; Bert’s Bistro at Mother Rosalie Hill Hall; and the Jenny Craig Pavilion.
A current USD parking permit is required to park on the USD campus. Faculty and staff may park in any white or yellow lined parking spaces. To register your car and purchase a parking permit go to the Parking Services Web site. The online form will require the make, model and year of your car and your car license plate number or the last six digits of the VIN number. Parking permits can be purchased using Visa, MasterCard, echeck, or payroll deduction using pre-tax dollars. Go to the Permits Web page to view parking permit rates.
Carpool spaces are for students or faculty who travel to USD with two or more people of legal driving age in the vehicle. A carpool permit is required to park in these spaces between 7-10 a.m., in addition to a valid USD parking permit. A carpool permit may be obtained at the Kiosk on your way onto campus and is valid for one location for one day.
Campus Tram Services and services to Old Town Transit Center is free to students, employees and visitors to the university. Click here for tram information and routes. The Tram Service is an on-campus shuttle service that moves students, faculty, staff and visitors to various stops on the campus. The trams run in a circular loop throughout the campus, and also provide morning and evening service to Old Town Transit Center to connect with the San Diego Trolley, San Diego bus system, and The Coaster which provides service to Oceanside.
Transportation Spending Account, a benefit USD offers under the IRS Code Section 132, Transportation Spending Account (TSA), allows you to set aside a portion of your salary to pay for certain transportation expenses. The monthly contribution, maximum of $230, is deducted pre-tax from your payroll check; you will not be taxed on the amounts set aside and used for eligible expenses.
Examples of eligible transportation expenses include:
-- Transit Pass Expenses: Expenses incurred for a pass, token, fare card, voucher or similar item for transportation to and from work on mass transit facilities.
-- Commuter Highway Vehicle (Vanpool) Expenses: Expenses incurred for transportation in a “commuter highway vehicle.”
