graphic organizer with text that states: schooltalking, tools for talking in school communities, curated by mica pollack

The Schooltalking Facebook community — curated by Dr. Mica Pollack, Director of C.R.E.A.T.E. and professor at UCSD and author of Schooltalk: Rethinking What We Say About — and to — Students Every Day (The New Press) – supports educators, youth and families trying to improve communications in their schools, districts, and education communities. This group is a great follow-up for folks who attended our (Re)creating Safe Learning Environments symposium in January, which featured a keynote presentation by Dr. Pollack, as well as for educators interested in fostering civil dialogue on their K-12 and college campuses.

More about the FB group:

Talk is action. What we say (and don’t say) every day in schools shapes young people’s lives!

This group is sparked by Schooltalk: Rethinking What We Say About — and to — Students Every Day (The New Press). But it's about sharing ideas and resources created by lots of people. We seek solid ideas on schooltalk for equity-- talk that supports the full human talent development of every student and all groups of them.

Discuss/post/share #schooltalking resources, ideas, experiences, and questions here! We'll archive useful tools at
