2nd Annual Innovative Technology Classroom Video Challenge

Calling all teachers: How do you use technology in your classroom? Show us! The Department of Learning and Teaching (DLT) and the Mobile Technology Learning Center (MTLC) at the School of Leadership and Education Sciences is accepting submissions for our 2nd Annual Innovative Classroom Technology Video Challenge. 

  • CREATE a 2-minute video showcasing your innovative use of technology in your classroom
  • SHARE it with the SOLES Department of Learning and Teaching
  • WIN $500 if Facebook followers vote your use the most innovative

  • San Diego County residents only
  • PK-12 Teacher or TESOL Teacher
  • USD teacher candidates are eligible with permission from their cooperating teachers

How to Participate


  • One lucky teacher will take home the $500 grand prize

Eligible Entries

  • Video entries must be submitted via a Vimeo video link to teach@sandiego.edu
  • Video links must be received by 5:00 pm PST on April 15, 2014
  • Duration of entries must be two (2) minutes or less
  • Participants are responsible for adhering to all relevant school and district video/photo policies and student privacy policies
  • Videos must not include appearances by PK-12 Students
  • Examples of student work may be displayed, but no identifying information must be visible
  • All adult participants appearing in the video must submit a Consent Release Form

Judging Process
DLT faculty will review all submissions and select the top 10 semi-finalists based on the evaluation criteria listed below. The 10 semi-finalists videos will be posted for public view and voting on the SOLES Department of Learning and Teaching Facebook page and the SOLES MTLC Facebook page. The winning video will be selected by public vote – encourage your friends and colleagues to watch and “like”.

Evaluation Criteria
Semi-finalists will be selected based on the following criteria:

  • Innovative use of technology in the classroom
  • Impact on student learning
  • Contribution to increasing access and equity
  • Creative content and delivery
  • Potential for inspiring other educators
