Publicizing an Event on Campus
The Office of Public Affairs oversees publicity of campus events. To insure your event information reaches the target audience, please contact the office at (619) 260-4681 in advance.
The university has several ways to publicize events campus-wide, including on the main Web site, on the MySanDiego portal, and in publications. Events are not posted to these automatically for publicity. It is the responsibility of the event coordinator to submit information to the communication outlets listed below.

My Postings
This is the gateway to Web site postings of news and events at the University of San Diego. Go to www.sandiego.edu/mypostings, log on with your USD user name and password, and complete the on-line form with information about your event.
Within this form you can request placement on the main USD Website, department pages, the event listings calendar and MySanDiego portal. You can choose the type of posting from the category list of event, news or personal announcement. The personal announcement is a MySanDiego portal message that can be targeted to specific groups.
Complete instructions on how to post information and a short style guide can be found at the top of the My Postings page or at www.sandiego.edu/web/pdf/info_posting.pdf.
Postings are reviewed by the Webcoordinator and will be edited for style, placement and appropriate content.
Information required for all postings include:
- Event title
- Date
- Time
- Place
- Price
- Public contact information: phone number, e-mail address, web addres
- Short description on event
- Group or department sponsoring event
On-line Events Calendar
The on-line calendar of events listing is generated automatically when you schedule a space on campus. This listing consists of the name of your event, place and time.
To add descriptive text to your event, please send the description to webcoordinator@sandiego.edu. Identify the copy as “On-line calendar event description” and it will be added to the listing after editing for style and space.
Inside USD
Inside USD is an on-line news site within the USD News Center with stories about people, programs and events at USD. You can submit story ideas to the editor on-line at news@sandiego.edu. This site is maintained by the office of Public Affairs.
The Vista
The Vista is the student newspaper at USD. It is published weekly during the Fall and Spring semesters and is alo available online. The Vista accepts advertising as well as editorial suggestions. The editorial department can be reached at (619) 260-4584. Advertising is at (619) 260-4714.
Lighted Marquee
The marquees are located at the two main entrances to campus. Marquees may be used for event promotion, community awareness and parking management. Only USD employees and students may submit requests for postings.
Submit event description to marquee@sandiego.edu two weeks before event.
USDTV: Events and Activities Calendar(Channel 12, USD TV system)
The office of Media Services produces this television channel dedicated to events at USD. This is an outlet to air announcements for any campus-wide event or activity targeting the general student population.
To advertise your event on this channel, e-mail eybarra@sandiego.edu with the event description at least two weeks in advance of requested posting date.
Media Services will create a Powerpoint slide for broadcast. All information is evaluated and edited based upon broadcast standards (readability and appropriate content) and will be re-formatted as necessary.
Press releases and calendar listings

The office of Media Relations, at (619) 260-4659, can advise you on best type and placement of media notification. The office maintains listings of local and national media outlets and can help develop press releases and direct your publicity to the most appropriate media.
