Publicizing an Event
The Office of Public Relations oversees publicity of campus events. To insure your event information reaches the target audience, please contact the office well in advance. We can help in several ways:
Event listings
Public Relations publishes weekly and monthly calendars of events. These are mailed to all university employees as well as to the off campus community at large. In addition, PR posts the USD website listings, including the News & Events calendars and This Week at USD.
Deadlines for these calendars are:
- Update, monthly calendar mailed on and off campus: 10th of month prior (example: by Jan. 10 for February calendar)
- This Week at USD, weekly on-line calendar: Wednesday of week prior (example: Wednesday for posting on Monday)
- Events, long term web posting at News & Events: any time
Event postings to MySanDiego, department home pages and the main News & Events pages should be submitted at http://www.sandiego.edu/mypostings. All postings are reviewed for appropriate content. For additional information on postings, please e-mail webcoordinator@sandiego.edu.
Information required for all postings include:
- Event title
- Date
- Time
- Place
- Price
- Public contact information: phone number, e-mail address, web addres
- Short description on event
- Group or department sponsoring event

The office of Media Relations maintains contacts with local and national media. If your event needs press coverage, please contact Liz Harman at (619) 260-4682. Media Relations can help develop press releases and direct your publicity to the most appropriate media.
