The Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate at the University of San Diego will host its 18th Annual Real Estate Conference and 20th Anniversary Celebration of USD’s Real Estate Program Thursday, Feb. 13 at the San Diego Marriott Marquis and Marina from 7:00 -11:45 am.

The conference is a signature gathering of over 700 senior real estate executives. Speakers will address the opportunities and challenges in today’s local, regional, national and international real estate markets.

Sam Zell, founder and chairman of Equity Group Investments, is the keynote speaker and Norm Miller, PhD, professor of real estate at the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate, is the featured speaker. Miller will present his research findings on workplace trends nationally and their impact on office markets.

Zeroing in on unique opportunities relevant to San Diego, three panels of civic and business leaders will offer their insights on a variety of issues and opportunities in real estate. The first panel, titled, "Tailwinds or Headwinds? Navigating Demographic, Planning and Political Change in San Diego," will include: Jerry Sanders, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce; Marney Cox, San Diego Association of Governments; and Bill Fulton, City of San Diego. A second panel will discuss "A Roadmap for Going Places Where Others Are Not Even Looking," and will include: Michael Jones, The Maritime Alliance; Mary L. Walshok, PhD, University of California San Diego; and Linden S. Blue, General Atomics. The third panel, titled "Comparing Notes and Aha Moments," will include Sherm Harmer, Urban Housing Partners Inc. and Ian Gill, Highland Partnership, Inc. and will be moderated by Mark J. Riedy, Burnham-Moores Center.

The conference concludes with the Center's Executive Director, Mark J. Riedy, PhD, reflecting on the 20-year successful joint venture between the Burnham-Moores Center and San Diego's real estate industry and its potential for even greater benefits in the future. Immediately following the conference, from 11:45 a.m. – 12:45 p.m., will be an informal party celebrating the 20th Anniversary of the University of San Diego's real estate program.
