Local San Diego high school and college students will look to make a splash by defying the laws of science and walking across water this Saturday.
The University of San Diego hosts its 21st annual Walk on Water competition where students utilize the scientific principles of buoyancy, stability and propulsion, along with lots of Styrofoam and duct tape, to create “shoes” to defy the laws of gravity and race across the pool.
The event takes place from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Sports Center pool, about 200 yards east of USD’s main entrance at the top of Linda Vista Road.
USD’s undergraduate Engineering Programs are ranked 27th in the nation by U.S. News & World Report.
