University of San Diego business students and alumni, along with media and the general public, can now keep up with the latest in business education through a new blog by School of Business Administration Dean David Pyke.
The blog, available at http://www.sandiego.edu/pyke, offers a look at the school’s many successful programs and events, along with the dean’s observations on enhancing the education and professional experience for current students, and his take on the latest news in the business world
Recent posts include his observations on USD being named “a changemaker campus,” by Ashoka, a global nonprofit organization that promotes social entrepreneurship, and the university’s innovative efforts to find solutions to global problems such as its new Center for Peace and Commerce, a joint effort between the schools of business and peace. Pyke also commented on the passing of Apple’s Steve Jobs and how the astounding discovery of subatomic particles that reportedly travel faster than the speed of light is a reminder of the continued need for vigorous research in the sciences, education and business.
Readers of the blog will also learn about Pyke’s activities, including a recent trip to Wall Street, and they’ll learn a bit more about the dean himself, including his belief that his beloved Boston Red Sox may have flamed out this year but will be back in the playoff hunt in 2012.
Mostly though, the blog is a way to express his vision for the school. “What I think about most of the time is the school and how we can better serve our students, our faculty and our staff,” said Pyke who has served as dean since 2008. “How can we better serve our business community and alumni and change the world with what we’re doing at the business school and how we’re doing it? That’s how I’m envisioning the blog.”
