In collaboration with Mercy Corps, a team from the Kroc School of Peace Studies and the Institute for Peace and Justice has received a grant from the U.S. Institute of Peace to study the effectiveness of community-based countering violent extremism (CVE) programs in Somalia. In particular, the research will compare the effectiveness of government-led programming with community-led programming in reducing the propensity of youth to engage in violence. The research will be shared with, and assessed by, the Women PeaceMakers network in order to better understand the generalizability of the research results.
