Dr. Marcel Saucet

SAN DIEGO (August 29, 2018) – USD School of Law Professor Dr. Marcel Saucet was featured on the KMET 1490 AM Morning Show with hosts, Aaron Michael Sanchez and Brett Malak, on August 27, 2018.  Professor Saucet discussed the concept of artificial intelligence and how it is coming into popularity in modern day society, where “strong artificial intelligence is not in existence.” Weak A.I. is “extremely intelligent” and can be used for many different reasons, even being incorporated into every day social media. Dr. Saucet utilized his expertise in marketing to describe how artificial intelligence is being used in social media channels as seemingly simplistic and innocent as Facebook. The notion that our phones are tapping into our conversations, listening to our dialogue, and using that information in a variety of ways was also a topic of discussion, in which Dr. Saucet uses Amazon as an example of a website that may utilize this technology. Artificial intelligence, algorithms, and coding is extremely prevalent in today’s society and Dr. Saucet examines many instances in which A.I. is closer than we all may think.
