Robert L. Grimes ’72 (JD) to Receive Broderick Award at 2018 Red Boudreau Trial Lawyers Dinner

Robert L. Grimes

San Diego (August 28, 2018)Robert L. Grimes, ’72 (JD), with Grimes & Warwick, is being honored with the prestigious Daniel T. Broderick III Award at the 34th Annual Red Boudreau Trial Lawyers Dinner at the U.S. Grant on Saturday, September 15.

About Red Boudreau and the Daniel T. Broderick III Award

Father Joe Carroll arrived in San Diego in the 1970’s to St. Rita’s–a small church with attorney Maurice “Red” Boudreau among its parishioners. Father Carroll and Red struck up a friendship with a common concern for the homeless, resulting in Red becoming a founding Board member of St. Vincent de Paul Village–which today is more commonly known as Father Joe’s Villages.

Red Boudreau was a distinguished and respected member of the San Diego legal community, serving as president of the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego and a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates and the American College of Trial Lawyers. In 1985–two years after Red’s passing–an annual memorial dinner was established to honor his legacy and for the San Diego legal community to raise funds for children at Father Joe’s Villages.

In 1989, following the unexpected death of San Diego attorney Daniel T. Broderick III in 1989, an award was established in his name and is presented at the annual dinner to a San Diego attorney who best exemplifies Dan’s character and work ethic. Dan is remembered as a gentleman who inspired people to be their best. He adhered to the highest standards of civility, integrity and professionalism. Always cordial in court, Dan was an opponent not to be misjudged with his thorough preparation and knowledge evident and flawless in the courtroom.

The award is given to a lawyer in private practice with a substantial body of civil litigation experience, who epitomizes the highest principles of civility, integrity and professionalism. The Daniel T. Broderick III Award is considered, by many, to be the ultimate award that a San Diego trial attorney can receive. One does not “win” the award, rather one is “honored” by being named the recipient.

Join the American Board of Trial Advocates, Consumer Attorneys of San Diego, and San Diego Defense Lawyers at this year's Red Boudreau Dinner honoring Robert L. Grimes, ’72 (JD). All proceeds directly benefit Father Joe’s Villages. Register online.
