Hon. Christopher Whitten ’91 (JD) Elected as Board Officer to National Judicial College Board of Trustees

RENO, Nev. (August 1, 2018) – University of San Diego (USD) School of Law alumnus the Honorable Christopher Whitten, ’91 (JD), has been elected as Secretary for 2018-2019 for the National Judicial College Board of Trustees.

Based in Reno, Nevada, and offering courses nationwide, the National Judicial College (NJC) has been the nation’s leading provider of judicial education for more than half a century, drawing participants from every state and more than 150 countries. The NJC offers more than 200 judicial education programs in person and online in support of its mission: “to make the world a more just place by educating and inspiring its judiciary.”  The 21-member Board of Trustees sets policy and provides leadership in achieving the College’s mission. Members come from diverse fields, including the law and judiciary as well as business and corporate areas.

The NJC welcomes new trustees and board officers, including Judge Whitten–a general jurisdiction trial court judge on the Superior Court of Arizona and presiding tax judge for the state. He is a past chair of the ABA’s National Conference of State Trial Judges.

Judge Whitten has served on the Board of Directors for the St. Thomas Moore Society, the Recreational Association of Madison Meadows and Simis, and the Arizona School for the Arts.  He is also a member of the Arizona-Mexico Commission and Arizona Supreme Court's Commission for Victims in the Courts.

Judge Whitten currently serves on both the USD Law Alumni Board and Phoenix USD Law Chapter Board.
