CPIL’s Bridget Gramme '98 (BA), '03 (JD) Quoted in Los Angeles Daily Journal on Study on Bar Exam Content

Bridget Fogarty Gramme

SAN DIEGO (October 10, 2017) University of San Diego (USD) School of Law Center for Public Interest Law (CPIL) administrative director and supervising attorney Bridget Fogarty Gramme, ’98 (BA), ’03 (JD), was quoted in a Los Angeles Daily Journal article regarding a recent report that determined content on the California bar exam matches with the knowledge, skills and abilities entry-level attorneys are expected to possess for the practice of law.

According to the article, the State Bar staff says the review they commissioned should prompt the agency to recommend that the state Supreme Court make no changes to the 13 subjects on the exam. Bar staff also agree with the study’s author that the content of the licensing test could be reviewed again after a California-specific job analysis is conducted.

Gramme said she agreed with the bar that a California job analysis study needs to be conducted prior to another content study.

“It doesn’t make sense to change the content now because a better in-depth review needs to happen,” said Gramme, who was a panelist for the recent study.
