Public Interest Law Foundation To Host Nineteenth Annual Pledge Drive for the Loan Repayment Assistance Program

San Diego (March 2, 2017) - Student members of the Public Interest Law Foundation (PILF) at the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law are gearing up for their nineteenth annual spring pledge drive for the Loan Repayment Assistance Program (LRAP), taking place this year on March 20-25, 2017.

It is no secret that the salary difference between legal employment in the private sector versus public interest sector is often greater than $60,000 per year. In response to this disparity, the Loan Repayment Assistance Program was started in 1993 to help USD School of Law graduates repay their school loans if they choose a career in public interest law.

The annual LRAP pledge drive is the main source of income for the LRAP fund and every penny contributed to LRAP goes straight to USD School of Law graduates working in the public interest sector. This financial assistance is vital to ensuring that law school graduates are able to use the education and experience they have received at USD in the public interest sector.

Any gift made now until March 25 will go towards their drive, in addition to funds earned through PILF’s events during their pledge week, including a bingo tournament and raffle. Dean Stephen Ferruolo will match up to $15,000 raised for LRAP between now and March 25, 2017.
