USD Law Alumna Janice F. Mulligan '81 (JD) Appointed to California State Bar's Commission on Judicial Nominees

Janice Mulligan '81 (JD)

San Diego (August 14, 2012) – University of San Diego School of Law alumna Janice F. Mulligan, '81 (JD), of the law firm of Mulligan Banham was appointed to the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation (JNE), the State Bar of California agency that evaluates all candidates who are under consideration for a judicial appointment by the governor. Mulligan will begin her term on the commission on January 31, 2014.

"I am honored to be selected to serve on the JNE Commission," said Mulligan. "I look forward to the privilege of contributing to the selection of California's future judges and justices. JNE's work is vital in ensuring the survival of a strong and independent judiciary."

Mulligan represents patients and other consumers in catastrophic medical malpractice, nursing home abuse and personal injury cases. Active in community and professional organizations, Mulligan is also currently a clinical instructor at the University of California, San Diego School of Medicine. She previously served as chair of the American Bar Association (ABA) Standing Committee on Medical Professional Liability, as a member of the ABA House of Delegates, and as a member of the ABA Tort, Trial and Insurance Practice's Council. Mulligan also served on the Board of Directors of the San Diego County Bar Association and the Consumer Attorneys of San Diego.

Mulligan earned both her BA and JD degrees from the University of San Diego and is a graduate of the Gerry Spence Trial Lawyers College.

The mission of the Commission on Judicial Nominees Evaluation (JNE) of the State Bar of California is to assist the governor in the judicial selection process and thereby promote a California judiciary of quality and integrity by providing independent, comprehensive, accurate and fair evaluations of candidates for judicial appointment and nomination.
