In commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall, the department of Political Science and International Relations invites you to a screening of "Goodbye, Lenin!" a 2003 German tragicomedy film nominated for a Golden Globe Award for best foreign language film.  The film will be followed by a discussion on the events of 1989 led by Professors Mary McKenzie, Petra Beckman-Schulz, and Mike Pfau.

The story: East Germany, 1989. A young man protests against the regime. His mother watches the police arresting him and suffers a heart attack and falls into a coma. Some months later, the GDR does not exist anymore and the mother awakes. Since she has to avoid every excitement, the son tries to set up the GDR again for her in their flat. But the world has changed a lot.
