| Message | This training trip is required students who have joined the Guide in Development program. This will be your jump-start into gaining the technical and soft skills needed to begin to assist guiding trips. You will become proficient with the use of equipment, begin to understand the role of a guide, learn essential policy & procedures, and learn frequently used technical skills such as canoeing & kayaking & front country camping skills. PRE-TRIP MEETING: November 2, 5 – 7 p.m. Meet at the Experiential Education & Adventure Center (previously Outdoor Programs) in UC 136, 4 p.m., Friday November 6, and return 4 p.m., Sunday November 8. Please plan to complete your homework prior to this weekend so you can fully focus and enjoy this great experience! $65. You can use the guide credits you have earned from attending guide meetings & trainings to assist in reducing trip cost. We provide all equipment (tents, sleeping bags and mats, stoves, kayaks/canoes, etc), transportation, camping fees & permits, meals, and instruction. All meals will be provided from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch. We will be front country camping at Lake Cuyemaay at Mission Trails Regional Park. You can use 50 guide credits to pay for the trip! A packing list will be provided. PREREQUISITES: You must be a USD Guide or in the Guide Development Program.
