| Message | School Counseling in Times of Fiscal Crisis: Dangers and Opportunities The forum is an annual professional development conference hosted by the University of San Diego where school counselors, counselor educators, counselor supervisors, school administrators, graduate students in counseling, and leaders in the field gather to learn about the latest issues in counseling and guidance and collaborate on practical “take home” solutions to challenges in the field. Speakers:
The annual forum was established by the USD Counseling Program in 1999 as a way to bring together school counselors, counselor educators, counselor supervisors, graduate students in counseling and, in general, educators and others who are supportive of the work of school counselors in serving children and youth in K-012 educational settings. Since its founding, the event has grown from 60 participants to 150-200 each December. The forum has been the scene of several ground-breaking initiatives and announcements, such as the establishment of the San Diego County Association of School Counselors and the establishment of the Center for Student Support Systems (CS3), which now organizes the event each year. Prominent keynote speakers have also been featured, including Loretta Middleton, Sharon Johnson, and Father Greg Boyle. |
