USD Celebrates Student Organizations' Success
The University of San Diego’s Associated Students and the Student Leadership Involvement and Changemaking co-hosted a program on April 23 that combined a celebration for successful 2017-18 student organizations along with an informative conference to help organizations learn more and continue to thrive.
Called Student Orgs Awards to Conference, the event in the Student Life Pavilion’s third-floor courtyard area began with dinner and then issuing awards in six different categories.
Award winners announced were: Emerging New Member Award — Mayamiko Matabwa, African Student Union; New and Emerging Organization Award — USD Pataka; Excellence in Inclusion Award — International Student Organization; Torero Spirit Award – Humanitarian Society; Advisor of the Year Award — Alejandrx Cervantes, Filipino Ugnayan Student Organization (FUSO); and Outstanding Student Leader Award – Mallory Banner, Torero Dance Marathon.
The student organizations conference followed, giving USD a chance to attend sessions that enabled them to learn more about the Associated Students Budget Committee (ASBC), event planning, professional development opportunities and more.
