On March 2, Dr. Timothy O’Malley, Vice President of University Relations at the University of San Diego, was honored by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) with the 2018 Tribute Award. O’Malley, who has spent forty-five years in the education field, was honored by CASE at the District VII Connect West conference for his “exceptional mentoring and volunteer activities [as well as] a demonstrated and consistently high level of professional achievement.”

O’Malley came to USD in 2006 and has been the primary architect of the university’s most ambitious fundraising initiative in its history: Leading Change: The Campaign for USD. To date, the Campaign has raised more than $290 million, with 36,530 individuals contributing. He has also served as a mentor to junior advancement officers and has taught fundraising courses in the School of Leadership and Education Sciences.

After twelve years of service at USD, and more than forty years in the educational field, O’Malley will be retiring at the end of the academic year.

“Although we are all sad to see Dr. O’Malley retire,” says University of San Diego President James Harris, “we are encouraged about the future due to the solid foundation of advancement excellence that has been established under his leadership.”
