University of San Diego's Online Graduate Education Program Ranked #22 in the Nation

SAN DIEGO (Jan. 10, 2017)U.S. News & World Report has listed the University of San Diego’s online Master of Education program among the nation’s best in its 2017 ranking of online graduate education programs. USD ranked #22 out of nearly 250 schools in the 2017 U.S. News and World “Best Online Graduate Education Programs” report.

“The success of this program is a testament to how great teacher development happens in an online environment. The superb teaching in our great online program parallels our superb teaching in our face-to-face classes.” said Nicholas Ladany, dean of the School of Leadership and Education Sciences for USD.

The fully online master’s degree in education program has offered degrees since 2013 and has received recognition and acclaim since it launched. Just 16 months after its launch, the online Master of Education (MEd) degree was ranked 75 in the nation by U.S. News.  Since then, the program has moved up to 22nd in the category of Best Online Graduate Education Programs, a testament to the caliber of the program. http://www.usnews.com/education/online-education/university-of-san-diego-OEDU0862/education

Programs were ranked based on several key factors including student engagement, student services and technology, admissions selectivity, and faculty credentials and training.

The online Master of Education degree places an emphasis on 21st century skills for today’s evolving classrooms. Educators in the program can choose from five cutting-edge specializations (STEAM, Curriculum & Instruction, Literacy & Digital Learning, Inclusive Learning, and School Leadership) that provide a strong researched-based curricular foundation, with immediate practical classroom applications, all while providing the convenience of online learning. The program features an interactive, collaborative environment taught by experienced faculty with extensive K-12 experience, and strong networking and experiential learning opportunities.

“Our ultimate goal has always been to provide an engaging and applicable experience for our students. We’re certainly pleased that our ranking, as well as feedback from our graduates, affirms this.” said Suzanne Stolz, coordinator of USD’s online master of education degree.

USD’s online MEd is offered through the School of Leadership and Education Sciences (SOLES) and combines the content expertise of the faculty at SOLES with the online program management expertise of USD’s Professional and Continuing Education to create the best overall experience and learning outcomes for master’s students.
