University of San Diego Students to Participate in Relay for Life

More than 45 teams from the University of San Diego plan to participate in this Friday’s Relay for Life in the fight against cancer.

Teams made up of fraternities and sororities, accounting and nursing students, veterans, Intervarsity Christian Fellowship and many other USD clubs and organizations are expected to raise $45,000 in the 18-hour event.

During the Relay for Life, participants camp out overnight and take turns running around a track. Each team is asked to have at least one participant on the track at all times. Participants enlist sponsors to support their fund-raising goal.

The University of San Diego’s event begins at 4 p.m. Friday, April 10 in the Mission Field adjacent to the main (east) entrance to the university and behind the parking structure. Most of the action takes place Friday night but the event does run until 10 a.m. on Saturday.

The media contact during the event is University of San Diego student Sarah Giddens who can be reached at sgiddens@sandiego.edu.
