Businessman Ron L. Fowler to Chair USD's Board of Trustees

University of San Diego President Mary E. Lyons announced today that Ron L. Fowler, Chairman and CEO of San Diego-based Liquid Investments, Inc. has been elected Chairman of the University of San Diego’s Board of Trustees, effective July 1. 

“Chairman-elect Fowler has been an effective and committed member of the USD Board of Trustees since he first joined the board in 1996,” stated President Lyons.  “His service on several board committees responsible for providing oversight and vision for everything from USD athletics to academic affairs and strategic issues, has helped our university achieve remarkable success in the classroom and in athletics,” added Lyons.   Fowler currently serves on the USD Committee on Trustees, Executive Committee, Mission and Institutional Advancement Committee, the Task Force on Governance and is Chair of the Athletics Committee.

“I look forward to working with the administration, my fellow trustees and all other stakeholders to continue to grow both the academic and athletic reputation of the University of San Diego. We intend to do this while increasing both the ethnic and geographic diversity of our student population,” stated Fowler. 

A respected businessman, Mr. Fowler has served on a variety of local boards including as Chairman of the San Diego Hall of Champions, Founding Chairman of the San Diego International Sports Council, Chairman Emeritus of the SDSU Campanile Foundation and Founding Chairman of the SDSU Entrepreneurial Management Center. 

Chairman-Elect Fowler is committed to working with the 40-member board to further outgoing Board of Trustees Chair Darlene Marcos Shiley’s commitment to raising USD’s academic profile, increasing financial support to the university through philanthropy and grants, and developing new strategic goals which build upon those which have successfully guided the university in recent years.  An avid supporter of Torero Athletics, Mr. Fowler will also devote considerable time and attention to helping USD athletic programs reach new milestones in NCAA Division I athletics.

Mr. Fowler and his wife, Alexis, live in Rancho Santa Fe.
