State Accreditation Chief to Speak During Summer Leadership Academy

The Community College Leadership Development Initiatives (CCLDI) center, part of the School of Leadership and Education Sciences at the University of San Diego, will host a forum for community college leaders to strengthen their skills and further lead their institutions.

More than 50 members of community college leadership teams, including board members, faculty, senior administration and classified staff, will take part in CCLDI’s Summer Leadership Academy VI from July 27-31 at Mother Rosalie Hill Hall, on the USD campus. The goal of the center is to strengthen community colleges and support existing and new leaders using institutional partnerships that combine scholar and practitioner expertise.

Conference keynote speaker Ralph A. Wolff is the president and executive director of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the accreditation agency for more than 3,800 K-12 and occupational schools in California, Hawaii, the Pacific Islands, and East Asia; and 140 community and junior colleges and 151 senior colleges and universities in California, Hawaii, and the Pacific Basin.

In addition to the conference, the center will host a Policy Seminar at 5:30 p.m., July 29. This event is free and open to the public. Registration begins at 4:15 p.m. Nancy Shulock, director of the Institute for Higher Education Leadership and Policy at Sacramento State University, is the guest speaker. The theme of the seminar is “Leadership to Put Students First? It Could Happen.”
