Women's Swim and Dive Named CSCAA Scholar All-American Team

The University of San Diego swim and dive team was named a Scholar All-American Team by the College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA). The Toreros posted a 3.41 team GPA in the 2016 spring semester, improving from a 3.35 GPA in the fall of 2015.

"It's always a privilege to be associated with student-athletes who are striving for the best in both the classroom and the pool," Head Coach Mike Keeler said. "Congratulations to the team on their achievements."

PFL Coaches Pick USD Football as 2016 Title Favorite

For the sixth consecutive year, the USD football program has been picked to win the Pioneer Football League regular-season race in a preseason vote of the league’s coaches. San Diego, which shared the 2015 regular-season title with Dayton, again received the coaches’ nod to win the 2016 PFL title, narrowly edging Dayton in polling that was dominated by the two teams.

San Diego and Dayton combined to receive all available first-place votes and also claimed seven of the nine possible second-place votes (coaches could not vote for their own team). The Toreros received five first-place votes and five second-place votes to finish with 95 of the maximum 100 points possible. Dayton earned six first-place votes and two second-place votes, finishing with 94 points.

Furthermore, the Preseason All-PFL Team was announced and five Toreros were on the list: Wide receivers Brian Riley and Justin Priest along with offensive lineman Miles McArdle made the offensive squad and defensive lineman Jonathan Petersen and cornerback Jamal Agnew represented USD’s defense.
