Social Innovation Crosses the Border

Social Innovation Crosses the Border

Loti

Social innovation knows no boundaries. With this in mind, the Center for Peace and Commerce introduced a new $1,000 Baja Track in the 2016 Social Innovation Challenge. The Baja Track created an opportunity for teams from CETYS University campuses in Tijuana, Mexicali, and Ensenada to submit proposals for social ventures. Two teams, Greenest and Loti, advanced to the finals as representatives in the Baja Track, and each received $500 in seed funding. Greenest is a mobile app that encourages recycling through a social experience and is the work of Emma Martinez, Francisco Olea, Claudio Gonzalez, Javier Rizzo and Antonio de Luna. Loti, a game promoting cognitive stimulation for children ages 6-12, is the idea of Stephanie Gonzalez and Alexis Madrid.
