Adventures Abroad and Exploring Scotland

Studying abroad and traveling around the UK

Torero Life Abroad chronicles the life of a University of San Diego student as they participate in the study abroad experience. Follow Katie Moser's real adventures, anticipation, and experiences as she studies at St. Clare's in Oxford, England, for the fall semester. She is a third-year marketing and communication studies double major, involved in the Honors Program, Pi Beta Phi Fraternity for Women, and USDtv. This is the third installment of the series.

The last week of October was our half-term break and we had a week to travel and explore. I decided to head to Edinburgh, Scotland, with three girls I met during my time at St. Clare's. I was a little nervous at first, seeing as we were going to be staying in a hostel and traveling without any guidance from the school. But despite the tragedy of almost missing our flight, I knew once we arrived in the city that our trip to Scotland was going to be incredible. We got to learn a bit about Scottish culture, climb up giant (and steep) hills to look out over the city, meet people from all over the world (and even a fellow Pi Phi sister from Baylor!), and drive up to the Highlands and Loch Ness to search for Nessie.

A last-minute trip with people I didn't know very well managed to be one of the best experiences of my life, and I made memories and friendships that I could never replace. Luckily I remembered to whip out my camera every once in a while to take a few videos. Here's a snapshot of my time in Edinburgh and the Highlands. Enjoy!
