AS Executives Visit Capitol Hill, Meet Representatives
Members of the University of San Diego Associated Students Executive Board traveled to Washington D.C. earlier this month to attend a National Student Government Summit hosted by the American Student Government Association.
Prior to the conference, AS President Katie Coutermarsh, AS Vice President Bryan Fox, AS Speaker of the House Shalin Shah, AS Finance Chair Pete Greene, AS Communications Chair Bryan Tudor, and AS President’s Chief of Staff Dillon Olagaray had an opportunity to visit Capitol Hill and meet local members of Congress, including a few from the students’ home state, and tour the Capitol building.
Accompanied by Tom Cleary, senior director of community and government relations at USD, and Joshua Coyne, assistant director of USD Associated Students, the USD student government leaders met with California representatives Scott Peters (District 52), Susan Davis (District 51), Zoe Lofgren (District 19), Jerry McNerney (District 9) as well as Barbara Comstock (Virginia, District 10) and two members who are USD alumni, Political Science (BA) graduate Juan Vargas ’83 (California District 51) and Master of Science in Global Leadership graduate Ryan Zinke ’03 (Montana District 1).
