Racing Shell Named for Navy SEAL

Fox 5 San Diego -- Rowing stopped at the Crew Classic competition Sunday for a special christening ceremony to honor a decorated Navy SEAL.
Former University of San Diego rower and Navy SEAL Michael Tathum was honored with a racing shell in his name.

Michael-Tathum“This is a humbling experience. They paid for this with donations for Michael. It’s just pretty humbling,” Michael’s father Steve Tathum said.

The 33-year-old Chief Petty Officer died in a motorcycle accident while on vacation after his third combat deployment. (Full Story
