U-T San Diego -- QUESTION: CALIFORNIA LAW PROHIBITS PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES FROM CONSIDERING RACE IN THE ADMISSIONS PROCESS. THE SUPREME COURT RECENTLY SAID RACE COULD STILL BE A FACTOR AT THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS, BUT SET THE BAR VERY HIGH FOR WHEN IT CAN BE CONSIDERED. SHOULD ALL HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS ACROSS THE COUNTRY SIMPLY DO AWAY WITH CONSIDERATION OF RACE AND STRIVE FOR OTHER WAYS TO IMPROVE DIVERSITY?
