USD Hires Dean for New Engineering School
U-T San Diego -- Eight months after receiving a $20 million gift to create a school of engineering, the University of San Diego has hired a founding dean from Arizona State University to oversee the creation of the school.
Chell A. Roberts assumes his new post July 1 after he steps down as executive dean of the College of Technology and Innovation at ASU. Roberts was the architect and creator of that university’s general engineering program.
He has taught at ASU since 1989.
USD officials say the hiring of Roberts is a key step in the creation of the new Shiley-Marcos School of Engineering and that he will officially inaugurate the school in the fall. (Full Story)
