Message from USD President: 2011-2016 Strategic Directions
Last September at our annual Fall Convocation on campus, I shared the results of our very ambitious Strategic Plan 2004-2010, “Shaping Our Future Together,” underscoring how much had been achieved. During the Convocation celebration, University of San Diego Board Chair Ron L. Fowler announced the need to renew our plan within the context of our university’s mission. A Core Team of representatives from among the faculty, staff, and students led a lengthy and inclusive process throughout the year that identified those institutional priorities necessary for achieving USD’s promising future.
I am pleased to present to you now the University of San Diego’s new Strategic Directions 2011-2016. These six initiatives represent the collective efforts of the entire University of San Diego community. Thanks in large part to an extremely dedicated committee, and the thoughtful contributions of our Board of Trustees, faculty, staff, students and alumni, our university will be poised to continue our forward trajectory well into the next decade.
The University of San Diego is a Roman Catholic institution committed to advancing academic excellence, expanding liberal and professional knowledge, creating a diverse and inclusive community, and preparing leaders dedicated to ethical conduct and compassionate service.

I will discuss these areas of opportunity at our next Fall Convocation and throughout the months ahead with a focus on the specific initiatives we will adopt for each strategic direction. I welcome your comments and input as we identify the steps we will need to take in each area of the university experience to realize our ambitious goals for our students and our entire university community.
