Graduating senior, Dennis Pudjarminta.Graduating senior, Dennis Pudjarminta.

When people think about graduation, they typically think of spring ceremonies taking place in May or June. However, for music student Dennis Pudjarminta, he finds his graduation day rapidly approaching in December. Dennis has managed to combine his love for music and love for “crunching numbers” into one package by majoring in Accounting and minoring in music. Dennis looks forward to graduating next month with a Bachelor of Accountancy degree (BACC) and completion of the comprehensive minor in Music.

Dennis started singing at the age of four and has sung in choirs every year since.  During his middle school and high school years, Dennis was drawn to musical theater and performed every year. His passion for singing and music was cultivated to an even higher level when he had the opportunity to sing as a tenor in USD’s Choral Scholars. As part of this unique scholarship program, Dennis expanded his repertoire from singing popular music, madrigals and motets, to contemporary gospel, avant-garde and classical music. The multitude of performance tours, university concerts, and community functions offered Dennis valuable networking opportunities not only for music, but also in the fields of business and education where he hopes to begin his career after graduation.

As Dennis reflects on the experiences during the past 4.5 years at USD, he is grateful for the guidance, individualized attention and care received from faculty and all those in the Music Department where he has grown and developed into the person he is today. As Dennis begins a new chapter in his life, he offers a quote that he hopes will come true for him and for all, “Choose a job you love, and you will never work a day in your life.” --Confucius
