Sally Yard's CoTA Awarded Grant from U.S. Department of Education

Wednesday, January 1, 2014

USD History of Art Professor Sally Yard, PhD, is the founding director and executive board member of CoTA—Collaborations: Teachers and Artists, a non-profit organization whose work has been recognized nationally. In collaboration with National School District, CoTA was awarded a three-year grant of $909,000 from the U.S. Department of Education. CoTA has also succeeded in raising $600,000 from numerous foundations in 2013. As the focus shifts from “No Child Left Behind” to the “Common Core” nationally, the educational model Dr. Yard developed with her colleagues—emphasizing critical thinking and creative problem solving skills—will gain more momentum. CoTA has already secured an additional commitment of two million dollars over the next two years and has built strategic partnerships with prestigious foundations.
