Calling all Current Events Junkies!

Do you have 1-2 hours per week and a desire to help improve the lives of San Diego’s blind and visually-impaired community? Braille Institute San Diego, a La Jolla-based nonprofit, is seeking volunteer instructors to teach a current events class one day a week during our Winter Term 2014 (January 6 – March 28).

You would facilitate a discussion-based class utilizing the latest headlines and news from newspapers or the internet. Class is designed to keep students engaged in current events, promote the sharing of opinions and keep minds active. Teaching at Braille Institute is fun because there are no tests or homework; people are simply there to learn! Students range from 30 years old to 98 years old. Class size varies from 5-20 students.
