Susannah Stern, PhD, Promoted to Professor

Congratulations to Susannah Stern on her promotion to Professor at USD. Dr. Stern is an excellent teacher who inspires students. As a scholar, Stern has achieved national recognition as an expert in youth media studies, focusing on such things as teens' media use, media representations of youth, and youth self-expression. Stern's work aims to add a more nuanced perspective to the frequent critiques of teenagers as irresponsible and vulnerably media users, and is based on interviews, focus groups, surveys, and content analyses. She is committed to the liberal arts approach to undergraduate education and infuses an ethical component into every class. The department of Communication Studies is lucky to have such a talented teacher/scholar!
