Monday, June 11, 2012
University of San Diego junior cross country runner Maddie Levine was honored with the 2011-2012 West Coast Conference Sportsmanship Award on June 6th. The WCC Sportsmanship Award is given out to one male and one female student-athlete that competes in the WCC. Each WCC institution gets to nominate student-athletes at their school that demonstrate exceptional sportsmanship. All WCC institutions vote on the nominations and the recipients are chosen to represent the entire WCC.
Levine helped with the creation and facilitation of the Spirit of the Torero, a Facebook page that allows the Torero student-athletes to sound off about how they are representing themselves, their teams, USD and their community.
She is actively involved in just about all of the community service projects USD Athletics takes part in, while also being named co-captain of the 2012-2013 women's cross country team. In addition, Levine will serve as the 2012-2013 Student-Athlete Athletic Council President. Next year she will be a senior and is a double major in communications and English with a 3.77 cumulative GPA. All in all, Levine embodies all that is sportsmanship and USD Athletics is proud of all of her accomplishments and the more to come in her upcoming senior year. (Full Story)
