Computer Science Majors Selected as a Top 10 Team in the 2011 Data Mining Cup
Thursday, June 9, 2011
The Department of Math and Computer Science is very excited to announce that John Lopez and Cameron Askew's team “Uni_San Diego_1” has been selected as one of the best 10 teams of the Data Mining Cup 2011 Competition (Task 1). They have been invited to Leipzig, Germany, for the competition conference in June. The final winner of the competition will be announced at the conference.
John and Cameron are both computer science majors. They took the CS494 Data Mining course in this past spring with Dr. Eric Jiang and participated in the competition as part of their final course project. This is an example of fine learning and fine teaching at its best.
Congratulations to John, Cameron, and Dr. Jiang.
