Judith Liu Invited Presenter at Two Conferences

As one of four finalists for the 2010 Thomas Ehrlich Civically Engaged Faculty Award, Judith Liu, professor of sociology at USD, and the other finalists presented on the panel “Civic Engagement: Demonstrating Excellence in Practice” at the 97th annual meeting of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, in San Francisco on January 28.

Judith Liu, recipient of the Pacific Sociological Association 2010 Dean S. Dorn Distinguished Contribution to Teaching Award, gave a workshop sponsored by the Committee on Teaching,  “Adventures in Community Service Learning,” at the 82nd annual meeting of the Pacific Sociological Association in Seattle on March 11.

Judith Liu was one of nine authors featured at the United Through Reading luncheon held at the Coronado Island Marriott on April 2.  She gave a reading from her book, Foreign Exchange: Counterculture behind the Walls of St. Hilda’s School for Girls, 1929-1937.
