The University of San Diego’s Mortar Board chapter was honored for its excellence at the national organization’s convention this summer. Chapter President Hannah Levorsen and advisor Judith Lewis Logue were present to accept the chapter’s awards.
The group was just one of 22 chapters to take home the Golden Torch Award, presented to outstanding chapters that are superb, well-run and exceed the minimum standards, accomplishing significant achievements in chapter management and contributing meaningful service to their institutions.
Levorsen attributes the chapter’s success to the university’s personalized education and emphasis on service.
“We choose members that exemplify service, scholarship, and leadership, and at USD there are a lot of students that meet those qualifications,” Levorsen said. “That means when we are going over applications for Mortar Board, we choose the best and end up with a group that has more experience helping and leading others than most universities.” (Full Story Inside USD)
