Asian American Studies Announces New Faculty

The Department of Ethnic Studies is proud and excited to announce the hiring of a new tenure-track faculty member for the Fall 2009 semester.
May C. Fu holds multiple degrees in English, history and ethnic studies from the University of Minnesota, University of California, Los Angeles, and a PhD in Ethnic Studies from the University of California, San Diego where she worked with Professor George Lipsitz. She comes to USD from Colorado State University where she was assistant professor in the department of History and Center for Applied Studies in American Ethnicity. This past academic year Fu served as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Center for Institutional Diversity and Program in American Culture, University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Her areas of expertise include comparative ethnic studies, social movements, race and labor, gender and immigration, Asian American studies, late nineteenth and twentieth century United States history, community studies.
