French, German, Italian and Spanish: New Course

This spring, Beatriz Lado, Ph.D., will offer a new course designed to provide future teachers with the fundamental concepts of foreign language teaching.
- a brief introduction to theories of second language acquisition in the classroom;
- teaching approaches and methods;
- roles of instruction, input, teacher, and student;
- classroom interaction; and
- classroom management.
Throughout the semester, students will design lesson plans, activities, tests, and tasks for all language skills. Students will be assessed through teaching presentations, tests, and assignments, including a teaching portfolio. The class will be conducted in English; students will turn in work written in the target language.
