Thursday, April 3, 2008
Allison Casciato, a junior in the biology program, was awarded a Summer Research Fellowship for 2008 by the National Cancer Institute - Integrative Cancer Biology Program. She will be participating in a research project at the Vanderbilt University Medical Center that is testing the validity of a mathematical model in describing tumor growth and invasion in spontaneous breast cancer.
This highly competitive fellowship selects only sixteen undergraduates nationwide to participate in cancer research at one of the nine NCI-ICBP Centers across the United States. Over the past year, Allison has been engaged in research with Marjorie Patrick, Ph.D., in the biology department.
