Ethnic Studies Professor Honored
Wednesday, March 12, 2008
The University of San Diego Mortar Board Chapter held its Eighth Annual Faculty Appreciation Dinner on February 20, 2008 to honor faculty who have made a significant contribution to the academic achievement and personal growth of USD Mortar Board members.
The faculty members who were honored this year were selected because they represent the ideals upon which Mortar Board is based. They were recognized for their academic excellence, superior leadership and dedicated service.
Gail Perez, Ph.D., English and Ethnic Studies, was nominated by USD student Melissa Lamoureux. Her nomination said, "Dr. Gail Perez continuously pushes me, as well as other students, into further notions of understanding. She demands that we are critical thinkers not only in our scholarship, but also within the context of our daily surroundings. She is an inspiration, and is truly supportive to all of her students. She is a refreshingly challenging professor and mentor, and is someone who never lets us settle for mediocrity. Thank you for all that you do; you make more of a difference than you know."
The Ethnic Studies program congratulates Perez for her award as an honored faculty member. Thank you for all your hard work you do for the students.
