Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate Appoints Terrence Tallen and Terry Aston to its Policy Advisory Board

In Sept., the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate appointed Terrence Tallen and Terry Aston as the newest members to its Policy Advisory Board (PAB). The PAB provides policy guidance and financial support to the center and real estate students at the University of San Diego School of Business.

“We are thrilled to welcome Terrence and Terry to our PAB,” says Stath Karras, executive director of the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate and staff liaison to the board. “Their expertise and exceptional reputation in the real estate industry will be of great value to USD’s real estate students and the Burnham-Moores Center.”

With these two additions, the Burnham-Moores Center policy advisory board has 43 appointees who take an active role in teaching, mentoring, advising, hiring and funding scholarships to support USD real estate students and also are instrumental in supporting the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate.

About Terrence “Terry” Tallen
Terry is the founder and CEO of Tallen Capital Partners LLC, a privately held real estate investment, development and asset services company. He leads the company’s multidisciplinary approach of the acquisition, financing, entitlement, and redevelopment of retail and mixed-use projects located throughout the Western United States. Prior to Tallen Capital Partners, Terry served as a principal or senior executive with several large public and private real estate organizations, directing the redevelopment, entitlements and leasing of more than 320 retail properties comprising 40M sq. ft. GLA. He a past or current member of the Urban Land Institute, NAREIT and ICSC. He is a policy advisory board member at the Burnham-Moores Center for Real Estate and at Indiana University’s (IU) Kelley School of Real Estate Studies. Terry graduated from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business. He was co-captain of IU’s 1979 Holiday Bowl Championship football team and provided a major gift to the IU athletics program. The university named its new state of the art football complex the “Terry Tallen Indiana Football Complex.”

About Terry Aston
Terry is a partner at San Diego Self Storage. He has been involved with the Self Storage industry since 1996. Terry started his real estate career while still attending UCLA as an undergraduate with a small residential development company. After working in many disciplines within the real estate field including development, banking, finance and commercial leasing he brought his family back to his home town and joined San Diego Self Storage. The self storage business allowed him to focus on his real estate passion while also focusing on the retail business aspects of the self storage industry. Focusing on development to build the portfolio, San Diego Self Storage has grown to 18 facilities in San Diego with additional self storage holdings throughout Los Angeles and Northern California.
