Students for Life sponsors a variety of events throughout the year.

Blanket DriveStudents for Life

L.I.F.E. Week (Living is For Everyone): April 23-27, 2018

Each spring Students for Life hosts a week of interactive activities and educational programs designed to call attention to major life issues such as human trafficking, HIV/AIDS, genocide, abortion, immigration, and poverty. During each day of LIFE Week service opportunities, displays, prayer experiences, and opportunities for discussion center on a different life issue. The goal is to provide a forum for the education of our campus community on all facets and stages of human life, as well as to foster an increased respect for the dignity of all life. Additionally, LIFE Week suggest ways of taking action on the various issues.

Here is the calendar of events sorted by topics for the week of April 23-27, 2018:

Drug and Alcohol Abuse

  • Please join us on Monday, April 23rd at 6:00 pm in UC Forum C, for a presentation on drug and alcohol abuse! The event will feature John Redman and Tony Hoffman, each with their perspective on drug and alcohol abuse. Refreshments will be provided.

Human Trafficking

  • On Tuesday, April 24th from 5:30-7:00 pm, Students for Life will host "Spirituality is Served" in UC forum C, consisting of discussion and dialogue surrounding the issue of human trafficking. The event will feature two speakers, a packaging event for survivors of human trafficking, and a boutique to support survivors. Dinner will be served.

Mental Health

  • Please join us on Wednesday, April 25th from 11:30-2:00 pm, out on the Maher and Immaculata lawn for our Students for Life Mental Health Fair! Come get some resources from the CHWP, make a stress ball, and take a break away from school and stress!

Homelessness

  • Come join us on Thursday, April 26th, in Plaza Mayor between 11:30-2:00 pm, to help make sandwiches and lunches for those in need!  

Abortion

  • Join us for a Rosary for Life at 8:30 pm in Founders Chapel, followed by the 9 pm Mass for Peace for Life Issues on Wednesday, April 25th. The mass will be followed by Ben & Jerry’s ice cream!!
  • On Saturday, April 28, from 8-10 AM, Students for Life will be participating in the Turning Point Organization’s Race For Life 5K Run/Walk at Kit Carson Park in Escondido. If you are interested, email usdstudentsforlife@gmail.com. Registration is free and we will provide transportation!

Baby Blanket Making

In partnership with the Christ Child Society of San Diego, Students for Life hosts a Baby Blanket Making Party each semester. During this fun event USD students make soft, warm blankets for newborns and their mothers in need in San Diego and Tijuana.

Baby Layette Packing

Also in collaboration with the Christ Child Society, Students for Life assembles essential items for needy newborns and packs them into Welcome Kits. The kits are then distributed to moms in the San Diego and Tijuana area.

Interfaith Shelter Network

Each semester Students for Life prepares and serves dinner and shares fellowship with the homeless women, men, and children who are a part of the Interfaith Shelter Network Program.

Stuffed Animal Drive/Holiday Gift Drive

Between Thanksgiving and Christmas Students for Life organizes a children's book and stuffed animal drive to benefit disadvantaged children in our community and in Tijuana.
