The TRiO McNair Scholars Program at the University of San Diego is now in its 6th year, having successfully competed for its second cycle of funding from the U.S. Department of Education in 2007. USD McNair alumni are enrolled in graduate programs at the University of Colorado at Boulder, Carnegie Mellon Institute, Georgetown University, University of Texas, UCLA, University of Rhode Island, Northeastern University, St. Augustine University, UCSD, CSU San Marcos, CSU Dominguez Hills, SDSU, and USD. Past and present USD McNair Scholars include majors in mathematics, social work, sociology, ethnic studies, women’s studies, biology, leadership studies, education, psychology, Spanish, biochemistry, accounting, business administration, philosophy, special education, physics and chemistry.
Student eligibility for participating in the USD McNair Scholars Program requires 1) current enrollment at USD, 2) a first generation and low income background and/or underrepresented background in graduate education, 3) the desire to attend graduate school, and 4) the need for academic and other support to encourage the dream of graduate study.
