We invite you to apply to participate in the USD Ronald E. McNair Scholars Program (McNair Scholars), a grant program funded by the U.S. Department of Education for undergraduates from first generation, low-income backgrounds, and/or students identified as underrepresented minorities in their chosen doctorate profession as deemed by the US department of Education.
As a McNair Scholar you will become part of the elite group of USD students who participate in professional development and academic research training.
McNair Scholars are encouraged to work 1 on 1 with a faculty mentor of your choice, in order to produce a sustainable year round research project. It is highly recommended, that this research project will be used for future purposes in graduate school and doctoral studies. Your involvement in research and scholarly activities is essential to your participation in the program. In addition, you enjoy professional development training opportunities through a series of McNair Scholars workshops.
McNair Scholars enjoy the privilege of traveling to other universities around the nation, participating and presenting in national McNair research conferences and attending national McNair student development opportunities. This is a rare opportunity at USD that provides high achieving undergraduate students with an opportunity to have professional experiences in their academic field.
